Praxis- Single|Serving: PASSIONS

Something is wrong with you. Everybody else has somebody else. Looks like everyone around you is taken. A good Christian would be married already. What’s your problem?

There are plenty of lies culture feeds us about singleness, sex, and marriage, but equal pressure and bad counsel abound in your church family. What does the Bible say? What counsel do mature Christian singles and married couples have to share? Single men and women are invited to join pastors and leaders to speak on these issues over an evening of fellowship, teaching, and table discussion.

Lake City Men's Morning Prayer

“I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands
without anger or quarreling…”
- 1 Timothy 2:8

The early Christians were devoted to the teaching of the Word, gathering, communion, and prayer. Join the men of Mars Hill - pastors, deacons and members - as they gather to offer prayers of praise and petition to our Holy Lord God, a discipline that deepens our relationship with God and each other.

Generous Christmas Giving (2 Cor 9:15) pt 1

Generous Christmas Giving
Pastor Mark Driscoll
Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift! – 2 Corinthians 9:15

‘Tis the season for holiday gift giving and receiving. So, it only seems fitting to preach a short Christmas series on Christmas giving.
In this two-week series we will examine how, at the time of his birth, Jesus Christ gave up the riches of heaven to live in poverty on the earth. We will examine how Jesus did so to generously give us gracious gifts, including forgiveness of sin, reconciliation with God, indwelling of the Holy Spirit, newness of life, ministry opportunity to help others in need, and an eternal life in his lavish kingdom.
In addition, we will examine how Christians are given the wonderful opportunity to be generous, cheerful, and gracious gift-givers as a demonstration of their understanding of and appreciation for Jesus. Simply, because our God is a generous giver, we are invited to share in his joy by being generous givers as well. I will also explain in detail a very large gift that has been received by Mars Hill Church and the ways in which we plan on stewarding it well.
All of this and more will be covered on two Sundays (December 14 and 21) and in our Community Groups as we examine 2 Corinthians 8–9. As we study, you will meet Christians who were struggling under the weight of an economic recession much like our own. Despite their poverty, they lived simply and gave generously so that needy people were helped and the evangelistic work of the gospel flourished. As a result, their example, from which we can learn, has been forever recorded in the pages of Scripture.

Cinemagogue: The Fall

Cinema is a modern day pulpit; people flock to their local multiplexes, group together, and find themselves moved by a worldview revealed in story form, allowing themselves to be emotionally led by directors and screenwriters who influence how we feel, think, and even act. Cinemagogue features monthly film viewings at the MHC | Lake City Campus, followed by an expository exploration of narrative themes and spiritual parallels. For more on cinema and spirituality, visit www.cinemagogue.com
